I suffered many years with a severe form of stomach...
I suffered many years with a severe form of stomach trouble, being unable to eat what I wished or when I wished, without severe suffering. I tried all the different kinds of drugs that materia medica had to offer me, without being helped. While on my vacation in the summer of 1909 the stomach trouble grew so much worse that I called a local physician, but could get no relief. At this time Christian Science friends invited my wife and myself to dinner with them. As I was very hungry, they told me to eat what I wished, and that through Christian Science help it would not harm me. I did not believe that I could do this without suffering for it, but I decided to try as my friends requested. So I ate a hearty dinner, but experienced no ill effects, which was the first time in many years. This seemed so wonderful to me that I decided to investigate Christian Science, and began taking treatments from a practitioner, with the result that I have been perfectly and permanently healed of this chronic stomach trouble.
I was also so badly troubled with rheumatism that it was difficult for me to do my work. Many times a day I had to stop because of the pain in my feet, but I now work all day without fatigue or pain, although my work keeps me constantly on my feet. I have never had any return of either the stomach trouble or the rheumatism, although I have been very active. I have gained in weight, have not taken any drugs since I became interested in Christian Science, and have never felt so well in my life.
I was not a religious man, and thought I was particularly opposed to Christian Science; but now I have a better understanding of God and man, when reading the Bible through the help of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and for this I am grateful to Mrs. Eddy.
