The surgeon who set the fracture told me that I would have a stiff arm; that at my "time of life" (sixty odd years) he had never known in such cases of any other result. He was a man of wide experience, and would not have distressed me with such a verdict had he thought any other result possible.

The doctor was sure my arm would be stiff, and so instead of taking them off myself, I called at his office and he unbound the arm with great care. I made no comment, but when he removed the splints, etc., I suddenly doubled up my fist and swung my arm over my head. He looked at me for a minute, then said it was wonderful.
