During 1907 and the fore part of 1908 I was to mortal sense under a heavy business strain. The work upon which I was engaged so completely absorbed my time and thought that with the advent of the panic, and consequent failure of my plans, substantially complete mental and physical collapse resulted. I was, during the period above referred tom under expert medical care, which was unsuccessful in checking the progress of the trouble. At this point, through the suggestion of friends and the good offices of my wife, I attended a Wednesday evening meeting, and was impressed with the testimonies of healing. I was also much impressed with the following inscriptions on the wall of the church: "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need," that familiar quotation from our Leader's work, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 494); also Christ Jesus' declaration, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
March 21, 1908, I bought a copy of the text-book and began the study of its wonderful philosophy of life, and improvement dated from that very day. During the period described by our Leader as "chemicalization," all the accumulated discordant thoughts and experiences of a lifetime seemed to be precipitated in a violent reaction, until after some time and what seemed serious relapses, the Science of being dawned on my awakened spiritual consciousness, with steady and consistent improvement of mind, reflected in correspondingly harmonious health. I am now, and have been ever since, in perfect health. Out entire household of eight, including four children, have become interested in Science. In the old thought we were entirely dependent on material means, and the family physician was almost a weekly and frequently a daily visitor, but Christian Science has for over two years met our every need, and we are now a household in which, due to its beneficent influence, harmony increasingly prevails.
I desire in this way to make my experience available to any who in similar or any other circumstances of health or fortune, can be assured of certain, complete, and permanent relief. I am also glad of the opportunity to record my gratitude to our Father-Mother God, to Christ Jesus the Wayshower, and to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for this beautiful truth which rationalizes to spiritual consciousness the chaos and inharmony of a materialistic conception of life.—J. Robert Crouse, Cleveland, Ohio.
