It is with deep gratitude that I tell of some of the blessings I have received in Christian Science. Three years ago I came to it for physical help. I had been under medical treatment for over twenty-nine years, suffering from what the doctors called a complication of diseases, including serious stomach, bowel, and liver trouble, also rheumatism and neuralgia. I had been told by several doctors that my case was incurable. Two years before I came to Christian Science my dear husband passed on, which caused me great sorrow, and this was followed by extreme nervousness and sleeplessness.
I then seemed to lose all hope. My attending physician and also my friends thought I would soon follow my husband, but I lived on, continuing to suffer both mentally and physically, and in this condition I came to Christian Science for help. I knew nothing at all about it, nevertheless after the first treatment I felt very hopeful, and really believed that I would be healed some day. After the second treatment I was absolutely healed. I had told the practitioner that I only wanted physical help, but I was not satisfied. I longed to know more of the truth that had made me free, and I continued to go to the practitioner for several weeks, that I might learn more of this truth. After I knew I was healed I threw away all the material remedies which I had been using, and I have never had any need for them since.
While I think my physical healing marvelous, it is nothing compared to the spiritual quickening which I have received through the teachings of Christian Science. I am so thankful that I can, with the little understanding I have gained, not only help myself but also my fellow men. Words cannot express my gratitude to God for the many blessings I have received. I am also grateful to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for giving us Science and Health, which has indeed opened the Scriptures to me as I never knew them before. I realize more and more each day that God is All-in-all, and I do put my trust in Him.
