I gladly give this statement of my recovery from what appeared to be a most serious illness, as a result of Christian Science treatment. I regard it as a splendid demonstration and thank God with all my heart. I hope that my experience may be helpful to some one who reads our periodicals. I was in bed for the greater part of a week, with all the symptoms of complicated acute long trouble. My wife is the daughter of a physician, and is a skilful nurse who has had experience with that kind of illness, and she declares that the ailment was of the type stated and that for three days my temperature indicated alarming conditions. Unable to overcome the conditions which seemed to exist, my wife telephoned to a Christian Science practitioner several miles away, and absent treatment was begun. Relief was almost immediate ; soon the fever left me, and within a week the cough had disappeared, the functional disturbances had ceased, my appetite returned, and I found myself again in good health.

It is not enough for me to say that I am grateful to God for this speedy recovery from an illness which, under the best medical treatment (judging from the experience of a friend of mine), if successful, would require from a month to six weeks for healing, with perhaps two or three weeks of convalescence ; but I am keenly sensible of the debt I owe to the world's benefactor since the days of Christ Jesus, Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, that purely spiritual method whereby Christ Jesus healed the sick, cast out demons, cleansed the lepers, and raised the dead. How can we better show appreciation of the great work of our beloved Leader than by being and doing good? Mrs. Eddy's own words in concluding the article "Harvest" in the Independent (Sentinel, Dec. 1906), are encouraging and wholesome for us all : "It is of comparatively little importance what a man thinks or believes he knows knows ; the good that a man does is the one thing needful and the sole proof of rightness."

Reliance upon Truth always brings us closer to God, where error ceases to "rage and imagines a vain thing" (Ibid.). To rely wholly upon Truth is to do good to the whole world. When I think of what Christian Science has saved me from, of the peace and harmony it has brought into my home life, of its gentle ministry in helping me to conquer resentment, ill temper, impatience, and a horde other erroneous beliefs, I find myself in awe of the power of divine Love, and wish with all my heart that all the world might share its blessings.
