EXPRESSION THE CURE FOR DEPRESSION

Christian Science is found to be "a very present help" in overcoming the false claims of depression, discouragement, self-depreciation, self-condemnation, and all their unsubstantial ilk. In the old way of thinking, mortals often seem unable to banish the blues, but Christian Science explains that in reality there are no blues, and that the belief in them can be overcome by the truth. Blue thoughts can never be imposed upon us when we understand that we have no more right to entertain them than we have to welcome thoughts of theft or falsehood. We know that they are without substance or reality, for only the right is real. Every sense which is not good comes neither from God nor from the true man.

A feeling of gratitude is a closed door against these unwelcome visitors. If they try to take up their abode with us, let us remember how much we have for which to be grateful. When we are truly grateful to God for all His blessings, how insignificant seems whatever is unlike Him! In her own words (Poems, p. 4) our beloved Leader has given us the remedy for the false sense of depression when she says,—
