Divine power we cannot describe, because the finite has...

Divine power we cannot describe, because the finite has not the capacity to give expression to the infinite; but in the moments when we rise above the sordid tastes, appetities, and passions of the human mind, and turn our gaze toward the spiritual, we are able to catch some glimpse of this power through the sense of the nearness and presence of the all-pervading Spirit, manifest as infinite Love.

It is upon this foundation of absolute faith in an infinite God, that Christian Science is based,—faith, defined in the Scriptures as "the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen," coupled with the understanding that it is possible here and now to gain a sense of that presence and its manifestation, in a body restored to health and a man manifesting the harmony of Soul. There is nothing occult nor mysterious about Christian Science or its operations. As Mrs. Eddy says, "These mighty works are not supernatural, but supremely natural. They are the sign of Immanuel, or 'God with us,'—a divine influence ever present in human consciousness and repeating itself, coming now as was promised aforetime" (Science and Health, Pref., p. xi.).

It would be difficult to find any creed, of the many in the Christian church, that follows so closely and adheres so conscientiously to the teachings of the Master as does Christian Science, and that not only in the letter but in the spirit, because Christian Science teaches that its followers must take the undivided garment and obey the Master not only in part but wholly.
