UNITY WITH THE READERS

In the book of Isaiah there appears a prophecy of the mission and message of the Readers in the Christian Science churches, and of the Scriptural selections, the Lesson-Sermon, and the hymns of devout meditation and scientific declaration, which unite to voice that glorious message to mankind: "How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!" This proclamation of the divine supremacy, or "the allness of Soul, Spirit, and the nothingness of matter" (Science and Health, p. 497), breaks the dream and spell of animal magnetism, inspires Christian faith and practice, and is the key-note of scientific understanding and demonstration. When the truth first spoken by Christ Jesus and revoiced in Christian Science possesses the consciousness of the Readers and reaches the thought of the congregation, it cannot fail to instruct, to uplift, to "draw all men;" it must and does feed, heal, and save.

The Christian Scientist away from home on Sunday or Wednesday turns glad footsteps to the local Christian Science church, there to hear again the "good tidings," the message of peace and salvation, "Thy God reigneth!" Often has the heart of the traveling or visiting Scientist been cheered and blessed to find in some quiet, out-of-the-way country village a reverent, tender, appreciative reading of the Bible, of Science and Health, and which came, as one of our hymns express it,
