Mrs. Eddy is the Discoverer of that which always existed,...
Eagle Pass (Tex.) News-Guide
Mrs. Eddy is the Discoverer of that which always existed, of that which is as old as God, but which had been lost sight of and hence had to be reinstated in order that all might have a demonstrable understanding of God and be enabled to work out their salvation in the way Christ Jesus taught. This divine Science, this Science of spiritual being, is the same that Jesus taught; and the works that he did are being repeated today.
In his day Christ Jesus was not understood by the materialist. His teaching and his works were misinterpreted, and he was misjudged by his opponents. History repeats itself. Certain qualities of mind will in the twentieth century be found repeating the practices of former centuries. As the chief persecutor of the followers of the lowly Jesus became afterward a great light in the realm of Christian ministry, so will many who today misunderstand and misrepresent Christian Science and Christian Scientists, become active workers in the vineyard of Mind, sowing and reaping when the dense clouds roll away and this Science is understood to be the very word of God, coming with healing in its wings.
A proper understanding of God as infinite good reveals the claims of evil as an emanation of the Adam-dream, and he is wisely wise who can and does so magnify his consciousness of omnipresent good as to be able to keep the First Commandment, and thus prove the powerlessness of evil by stripping it of all pretense of attractiveness as sin, or of power as disease. St. Paul says, "Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?"
