My heart is full to overflowing with love and gratitude to God for the glorious truth, Christian Science, as revealed to the world in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy. For four years I had been a confirmed invalid, and given up to die by the physicians who had charge of my case, as they said that there was no hope for me. I had not been able to follow my business for over a year, but just as I got started in to go to work the plant burned down. I then moved away from Bay City, and went to another place. I commenced work in June, but I had a very bad cough. I started in with another physician, but all to no purpose. I could not eat or sleep, and the doctor could do nothing for me, although I had paid him to the last farthing.

At this time (July, 1908) I went to board with a lady who was a Christian Scientist. Up to that time I did not know that there was such a religion; but the lady got me interested in the literature and I started to study the Lesson-Sermon with the lady and her little girl. She told me what Christian Science had done for her, and assured me that it would do the same for me, and she advised me to try a practitioner. I, however, only went through courtesy to her, but it brought satisfaction to myself. I went to a practitioner in January, 1909, when I seemed to be looking into my grave. I told him of my troubles and tribulations, which were many, and after talking with me a little time, he said I would be all right. I thought that he did not know what he was saying, and I left him very much discouraged. He asked me to write him, and I said I would, but at the same time I thought that the next thing he would hear would be my end. When I got home, which was twenty-three miles by train, I felt very hungry, a thing I had not experienced in two years. I partook of supper, retired, and had such a good night's rest that I felt like a new person in the morning. I said nothing, but went to work, and what a change! I was completely restored, and kept on getting stronger.

But this is not all. Christian Science has not only restored me to health, but it has saved me from sickness, sin, and death, and showed me that God is Truth and Love. In the sermon on the mount Jesus said, "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." The truth has been opened unto me through God, divine Love. May God bless the one who told me of Christian Science.
