Many people come to Christian Science for physical...
Many people come to Christian Science for physical healing, but I came looking for happiness. For nearly twenty years I had had friends who were Scientists, and I knew the peace which the truth had brought into their lives, but failed to reach out my hand to take this blessing for myself. When I seemed to have reached the end of earthly happiness, with ideals shattered and hope gone, Christian Science was again offered to me, and I reached out so gladly to take a firm hold of what I knew meant help for me. It seemed long before I gained even a little understanding of what Christian Science means, but gradually the light crept in, and one by one the old heartaches vanished, lost ideals were restored, but brighter than before, and broken ties were knit again—stronger and more beautiful than I had ever dreamed they could be. I have seen many cases of physical healing, and have also seen false appetites vanish, so that I know the power of God heals in this age as it did in the time of Christ Jesus. But best of all is the joy and the peace that come to us with the understanding of God as the loving Father who gives to us every good and perfect gift, and who never gives us aught but good.
To express gratitude for happiness and joy and peace, as well as for health, is not possible in words, but from the depths of my heart there wells up such thankfulness to God for Mrs. Eddy and for her teaching, and to her for her tireless efforts on behalf of humanity.
Mrs. Lucy Love Sheldon, New York, N. Y.
