It is with a heart overflowing with gratitude that I tell what Christian Science has done for me. Two years ago I was taken seriously ill with rheumatism, which seemed to settle in my right knee. I was a trained nurse, and at the time was in charge of a very severe case of illness. As soon as I could get off duty I went home and to bed, and it was four months before I was out again.

After many consultations, the doctors decided that my knee was tuberculous, and a plaster cast was put on from my hip to my heel. The cast had been on about three months, and I was given up to die by the medical profession, but a dear friend of the family suggested that I try Christian Science. I had very little faith, in fact none, but I was willing to do anything for relief, so this friend telegraphed to a practitioner in Minneapolis for treatment. After the first absent treatment I slept all night, the first sleep which I had had for two weeks. Even the opiate given me had been of no effect, and this in itself was another wonderful healing. So much of the drug had been used to deaden the sense of pain, that it seemed as if I could not live without it, but with less than a week's treatment in Christian Science all that craving was gone. This was the first of April, 1909, and I have never taken a hypodermic since and certainly never will.

After the cast had been taken off, my knee remained stiff, but I have faith that this will be overcome as I realize that in God is my strength and health. I never could return to medical nursing, but am very desirous to take up nursing under Christian Science. In gratitude to God I feel it my duty to use my knowledge of nursing in doing His blessed work. I thank God daily for this understanding of the Bible, and am also grateful to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy.—Eva L. Jones, Jamestown, N. Dak.
