I wish to express my gratitude for the many blessings received through the study of the Christian Science literature, and the application of the truth therein taught. Science and Health found its way into my home when I was in need of the light which dispels darkness. This light was always present, but I saw it not until six years ago, when I was healed by reading this book, which was sent me by a good friend who asked me to read it, and said that if I did so I should not need to have another operation. I had already undergone three operations for an abnormal growth, and was no better. I was also suffering from a stomach trouble, and as I had not been able for over three months to retain food, I had become very weak. There were also various other ailments of long standing. A physician who examined me said I ought to have a most serious operation performed; but I did not, for a better way came to me, healing me completely after many years of suffering.

The morning of my healing I told my husband I was not going to get up until I was better. Afterward, as I lay there alone, my thought turned to God, and I wondered why He let me suffer so, after I had studied the Bible and worked faithfully in the church for years. I could not understand it then; but, whereas I was blind, now I see. An inward voice bade me read Science and Health, and I obeyed promptly. Getting the book, which had been in the house a short time, I began to read the chapter on Prayer.

When I got to the paragraph on page 14, which begins, "Become conscious for a single moment that Life and intelligence are purely spiritual," all sickness left me. After reading that paragraph I felt a freedom which I cannot express in words. The first thought was—"I am well! I shall never have to take medicine again." Getting up, I gathered up the various kinds of medicine and destroyed them. I have never used anything of the kind since, and there have been no ills in our family that Christian Science has not healed. When my husband came home I was dressed and went with him to the hotel for dinner. I ate heartily and had no fear, though I did not then know all that was in store for me and my family by putting into practice the beautiful teachings of Christian Science which heal the sick and cast out sin. After my healing I began a careful study of Science and Health, and was enabled in one treatment to heal my son of a cough which had troubled him for over three years.
