In April, 1908, my daughter, eleven years old, came home from school one Friday afternoon with a high fever. I tried to help her that evening and during the night, to the best of my understanding, for since coming into Science, about two years previous to this time, I had been able to meet any physical inharmonies for her; but the following morning I realized that I needed help, and called a Christian Science practitioner. In order to comply with the board of health regulations, a physician was also summoned. He diagnosed the case as a fever, then asked me how long it was since the child was first taken ill. I told him that it was only since Friday. He remarked that he had never known a case to develop so rapidly. Then for three days a battle against error was waged, for to sense the fever was of a malignant type, the patient being delirious most of the time, but in just one week from the time she was taken ill the entire condition was overcome through Christian Science.

After such an experience, in which Christ, Truth, has proven omnipotent, we can but praise God for His goodness to us, and we are grateful for the understanding that Truth does heal all our diseases. Through the study of Christian Science I am learning that as I strive, watch, and pray for that Mind "which was also in Christ Jesus" (Science and Health, p. 497), I shall be able to overcome all evil. Is it any wonder that every true Christian Scientist is filled with love and gratitude to our Leader, who has opened to us the way whereby we can gradually come "unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ."
