My attention was first called to Christian Science about...
My attention was first called to Christian Science about six years ago, through reading the evidence for the defense in the Los Angeles case. It seemed to me that the people who gave this testimony possessed something of which I stood in need; so a copy of Science and Health was purchased and its study begun. In less than a year I had become fully convinced that this book contained the truth, for by application of what had been learned a severe case of bladder trouble which threatened to force me out of my position as a railway mail clerk, had been so completely healed that there has not been the slightest return of the trouble. Also, my work as postal clerk was of such a nature that I believed it required all the will-power I could muster to carry me through my week on the road, and as a result I returned to my home for the following week's layoff in a state of complete mental and physical collapse. For the first two or three days of this lay-off my suffering was intense. This, too, has become a thing of the past, and now fatigue is quickly overcome on the rare occasions that it manifests itself. During these years I have relied entirely on Christian Science to overcome discord in all the forms in which it has presented itself, and it has never failed to do so quickly and completely.
This testimony is given in the hope that it may help others, and as a means of expressing my gratitude to God, and to our Leader for all the blessings that have come to me through Christian Science.
Samuel C. Barnes, Amesbury, Mass.
