Having received various physical healings in Christian Science,...
Having received various physical healings in Christian Science, I desire to attest my thankfulness to God for having given to our beloved Leader, through inspiration, the knowledge and understanding of the healing power of infinite Mind. Through Christian Science I have been healed of failing eyesight, a bowel trouble with which I was afflicted for twenty years, and recently I have been healed of injuries caused by a fall. These were so numerous and so severe that I was unable to raise myself from where I had fallen, and it was necessary to carry me into the house. A gentleman who kindly came to my assistance, wished to call a physician, but this I declined, and asked that they telephone for a Christian Science practitioner who resided in an adjoining city.
From the time of the accident until the practitioner reached me, I continued to declare the truth for myself. The practitioner came within an hour after she received the message and remained with me all night. With twenty or thirty minutes' treatment I could move the injured arm from the hand to the elbow, whereas up to that time I had been unable to move it at all. A surgeon was called next morning (the accident having happened late in the evening), but on account of the condition of the shoulder and arm he could make only a partial examination. He was not called on to make a more thorough one after the swelling was reduced, as the practitioner's understanding of the power of divine Mind was sufficient to meet the case. She came to me for the three succeeding nights, and then had me taken to her home, where I was most tenderly cared for during the following two weeks. I was then able to return to my own home and resume my household duties. Two months after the accident the surgeon made a second examination, and found the face and nose with no signs of having been injured, the knee-cap in place, the collar-bone healed, and the arm in almost a normal condition. I received strictly Christian Science treatment, no material means of any kind having been used; whereas, had I received medical treatment, I was told that the collar-bone would have been put in a cast, and the arm in splints and bandages.
I am most grateful to Mrs. Eddy for having given to the world in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" a practical understanding of divine Principle, which heals both physical and mental discords; and also for the uplifted thought gained by reading and studying her writings. Their study is bringing to me daily a clearer understanding of God as Love.—Josephine T. Prosser, Philadelphia, Pa.
