I wish to testify through the Sentinel to the power of Truth, as propounded in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, to make men free. This has been well proven in my case. I was brought up under the tenets of the Church of England, but being a newspaper worker I had the opportunity to attend meetings in various churches and to learn their doctrines. None of the forms of religion with which I thus became acquainted appealed strongly to me, and consequently I was not induced to give religion in general any serious thought.

When Christian Science was presented to me by two practitioners. I was very skeptical, and would not consent to see any merit in it for some time. With my wife I however attended the Christian Science Sunday services, and grew to like them so well that when the proposition was made to me to join my wife in class instruction, I consented, although I was not even then thoroughly convinced that I was taking the proper step. I was, however, satisfied with the teaching, and during the class term I was healed of the tobacco habit, which I had tried on many occasions to give up. At the close of the study period I attended a large meeting at which testimonials of Christian Science healing were given. This was inspiring to me, and I concluded that the religion which could unclasp the hold of disease on people and cure them was good enough for me.

During our Christian Science career of over fourteen years, myself, my wife, and my family have received many blessings, for which we are deeply grateful to God, and also to our dear Leader, who amid trials and persecutions has reestablished that teaching of the Master which if strictly followed will relieve mankind of every ill. I have been healed of violent rheumatic attacks, and relieved of other troubles. My wife and members of my family have been cured when at times error seemed to strike hard. My younger daughter has been attacked by most of the ailments that children are subjected to, but from childhood she has known no other treatment than that of Christian Science. I also know of the healing of many serious cases of organic disease through the power of Truth.
