The Word has been "made flesh" to me; therefore I can confidently say, "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want." I have felt for a number of years that I should give my testimony for the truth in Christian Science. Twelve years ago I was given absent treatment by a practitioner in Los Angeles, Cal., and was healed of a digestive disorder and heart disease when all other remedied had failed. I had lost flesh until I was a mere skeleton when I wrote to my cousin for treatment. I knew very little about Christian Science, only that this cousin had been most wonderfully healed, several years before, through Christian Science, of a serious affection of the lungs. I also knew of her demonstrations afterward in her father's family.
Like many others, I had religious prejudice to overcome, but after reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, it was very plain to me that Christ's religion of healing was once more being demonstrated. Now when I read the Bible with Science and Health, it is with a different understanding than formerly. I have never had the privilege of attending a Christian Science church, but I take the literature, and my husband and I read the Lesson-Sermon together each Sunday, as he is in sympathy with me. My demostrations have been limited, but I feel that "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health, p. 494) in my case.
Last summer, while the cousin already mentioned was visiting at my home, my five-year-old granddaughter, while playing, cut her bare foot badly on a rusty tin can. She came in crying, and we washed the blood off and bound up the foot. My cousin held the child on her lap a few minutes, and she quit crying and was soon running about at play, and never even complained of the injury. The wound soon healed, and all who witnessed it thought it a beautiful demonstration of the divine power in healing. I am very thankful for the light that has been given me through Christian Science.
