I think it is time for me to tell what Christian Science...
I think it is time for me to tell what Christian Science has done for me. About four years ago it found us in a bad condition; our home was a miserable place on account of sickness. I was very ill with a rheumatic attack, and to mortal sense the end was near at hand. I thought then, that if death would relieve me, it was welcome, for I had suffered so much that I longed to die. Then I would think about my three little children, and I felt that if God would just spare me to care for them I would be glad. I also thought that God had afflicted me, but I am now sorry that I ever charged God with sending evil in that way.
When the doctors had given me up and said they could do nothing more for me, we then turned to Christian Science as the last resort. We left God until the last but He should have been first. My husband sent after a Christian Science practitioner, and when she came I thought she was the most pleasant looking woman I had ever seen. She was the first Scientist that I met, and she told me I did not have to suffer. I did not then understand this, but she treated me, also read to me, and stayed all night with me. Next morning, with a little help from her, I turned for the first time without a lot of misery, as I had been nearly helpless for six weeks.
Christian Science has made a new home for us, and has made me a new woman, and now the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" are my daily companions. We take the Sentinel and Journal, and they are welcome visitors at our home. We do not see now how we ever did without Christian Science. I cannot find words to express how glad I am for this Science. I give God the praise, and I am very grateful to dear Mrs. Eddy. I am striving to be worthy of the name Christian Scientist.
