THE CHOICE

I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life.—Moses.

Behold ! this day I set before thy vision
The fateful choice—and thou thyself the chooser;
Call heaven and earth to witness thy decision—
And thou thyself the gainer or the loser;
Do service to the Lord of love and life,
And be His son, and of His truth partaking,
Or give thine heart to hate and lust and strife,
Thou thine own self deceiving and forsaking.
'Tis life or death, the blessing or the curse;
'Tis light and peace, or darkness and despair;
Dominion of the boundless universe,
Or infamy and bondage past compare.
Ye sheep of Israel, heed your Shepherd's voice,
Choose life, and live forever—take your choice!
