For twenty-five years, previous to 1906, I was addicted to the use of alcoholic liquors, greatly to my detriment, morally, physically, and financially. Through the healing of my wife of stomach trouble of long standing, I became interested in Christian Science, and asked her practitioner for help to free me from this evil, as well as from the tobacco habit. In less than a week's time the desire for both had entirely left me, although my calling brought me in daily contact with both of these vices. The following August I fell four stories down an elevator shaft, which resulted in a very serious injury to the left ankle. The surgeon and all my friends predicted a clubfoot, or at best a stiff ankle, but through the faithfulness of our practitioner and the constant realization of man as the perfect child of God, the ankle and foot healed perfectly.
While I am indeed grateful for these physical benefits, I am more deeply thankful for the spiritual light that has come to my understanding, and the growing knowledge of what it means to be indeed God's child.
William L. Baldwin, Minneapolis, Minn.
