It is with sincere gratitude to God for the truth which heals that I give this testimony. I came into Christian Science in the spring of 1907, after four weeks of severe illness. I was too ill to undergo an operation, but as soon as I commenced to get better the physician said I must be operated upon, as it was his opinion that I never would be able to get around again until this was done, as for a number of years I had suffered with intestinal trouble, and he thought the appendix must be removed before I could be well. While I was endeavoring to gain strength enough for this ordeal, a friend asked me why I did not try Christian Science. I did not know anything about it, and did not have much faith that it could heal me, but I was willing to try anything that would save me from the knife, so this friend loaned me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." I read the book about a week, and as I had become very much interested in it I decided to call a practitioner and give Christian Science a trial. I did so, and was completely healed in one week, and have had no return of my troubles in any way. Mere words are inadequate to express the wonderful upligting and the peace and comfrot that came to me as my spiritual eyes were opened,—when I realized the blessed assurance that "God is All-in-all" (Science and Health, p. 113). It was as the opening of a door, by which a prisoner is let out into the pure air and sunshine of heaven. My son also has been healed of varicose veins, for which there is no cure in medical science. He had been obliged to were rubber stockings all the time, but he has not worn them now for more than six months.
Thanks be to God, and to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, that we have been guided into the truth and light in which there is no darknes, and that we have found God to be an ever-present help in time of trouble. Jesus said, "Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy leden, and I will give you rest."—Mrs. L. S. Parker, New Haven, Conn.
