For over six years I was a sufferer from a so-called incurable form of rheumatic trouble, termed by the doctors a hardening of the joints. During this time I tried every form of material treatment supposed to be beneficial in such cases, including electricity, osteopathy, etc., without receiving any help. None of the doctors consulted, and they were not a few, held out any promise of doing more than to check the course of the disease; and the last one, a specialist, refused even to handle my case. He advised a complete change of climate as the only hope, not of a cure, but of some measure of relief. This step I refused to take, as I felt that the prospect of separation from my family meant an added burden which I could not possibly endure. A course of "mental science" seemed to give temporary relief, but I soon relapsed into a worse condition than ever.

Completely discouraged, I had resigned myself to a life of hopeless suffering and permanent invalidism when, some three and a half years ago, Christian Science was recommended to me. I reluctantly consented to give it a trial, although without any faith in it, as I was convinced that nothing could help me. My progress was very slow, in face almost imperceptible, but I gradually got to the place where I began to hope again. Then there suddenly developed an acute attack, and for weeks I lay at what seemed, to my relatives and friends, the point of death. The faithful and untiring work of the practitioner finally prevailed, and since then I have gained steadily, until today I am free, able to care for my own household duties and my family of three children, the last born in Science with practically none of the effects supposed to be incidental to such experiences, and particularly so with any one who had so long suffered with the disease above indicated.

While my healing was have gained so much spiritually that I can look back and count every minute of the time as a blessing. From being a despairing, hopeless invalid, I have been transformed into a healthy, happy woman, with an outlook on life which daily grows brighter. I cannot, in words, adequately indicate my sense of gratitude to God, and to Mrs. Eddy, for having been so lovingly aided in gaining an understanding of Christian Science, but I am striving so to live that my life shall daily express it.—Mrs. Eva D. Arnold, Chicago, Ill.
