AMONG THE CHURCHES

On Sunday morning last [Nov. 22] the little band of Christian Scientists held the first public service in Bermuda at their Reading Room, Burnaby House, Burnaby street, Hamilton. The service, which included the singing of Mrs. Eddy's "Communion Hymn," was very dignified and impressive. Eugene C. Pearman was First Reader, Mrs. W. T. James, Second Reader. The subject of the Lesson-Sermon was "Soul and Body." Among those present were the Worshipful W. T. James, mayor of Hamilton, and Mrs. W. O. Swink of New York, whose beautiful voice added much to the interest of the service.

First Church of Christ, Scientist, of New Rochelle, opened its new church building at 19 Locust street, Dec. 27. The church has been holding its services in Herman Lambden's Hall about seven years. Three months ago it bought the present site and remodeled the old house and built an addition to serve for a meeting-place. This hall seats two hundred persons, and the front rooms have been artistically decorated and furnished to serve as Reading Rooms. The contract is let for a new front of classic design. Services were held at 11 a.m. and 3.30 p.m., and the church was completely filled with a very attentive audience. Many congratulations were received by the members, and there were numerous expressions of surprise at the beautiful demonstration just made. Divine Love has supplied all our needs, as the building neared completion, even to the securing of a new organ (which at first was thought to be an impossibility), and for which we are very grateful.—Correspondence.
