It is with a heart full of gratitude and love to God, and to our dear Leader, that I send my testimony to the Field. Seven years ago I was preparing to go to an infirmary for an operation on my limb, which had been terribly injured fourteen years previous, when a dear friend brought me some Christian Science literature, asking me to read it and see what I thought of it. I did so, but I suppose I was not ready for it, as I was not willing then to trust Truth as I do now. I had the operation, but three years later my limb was in a worse state than ever and my genegal health was very bad. I had a dreadful cough, and suffered greatly otherwise. I was in bed for two weeks at a time; in fact, had almost all the ailments that flesh is heir to. The doctor in attendance decided to consult a bone specialist, and they together decided my case as a dreaded disease of the bone. This frightened me very much, and I at once submitted to a very serious operation. Later it was decided that the former diagnosis was wrong, but my husband was told that if I was alive at the end of three months it would surprise them. I did get better, however, and was able to walk around pretty well; but my limb would not heal, and was a source of great annoyance to me.
Last June a young man was calling at my house, and knowing that his mother was a Christian Scientist, I jestingly remarked that I thought I would try Christian Science. He very quickly said, "It will surely cure you;" and when he called again he brought me a Christian Science Journal to read. Then my eyes were indeed opened, and I thought that if others could be healed, why not I. I went to another dear friend who is a Scientist, who talked to me and loaned me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. I have been reading the text-book and our other Christian Science literature constantly since. I attended an experience meeting at the church the first Wednesday night after I began reading Science and Health, and while there I heard a testimony which made me know that I must lay aside all material remedies. Next morning I took the bandage and poultice off the limb, put on a clean white cloth, and from that time have never used any material remedies, either for this or for any other trouble. I had a few treatments later on, which destroyed all fear and gave me the peace "ehich passeth all understanding," and to-day I can truly say that I am "every whit whole."
I am indeed grateful to God, and to our dear Leader, for the many blessings Christian Science has brought to me and that I have been so lovingly helped over the rough places. I also with to add that I became a member of the Christian Science Church last January.
