FROM OUR EXCHANGES

[The New York Observer.]

Just because it is so pressing, the King's work must be planned. God plans it, and He means that men in their lesser way should wisely plan it, too. Not all of these human plans can carry through, but, on the whole, a man's life will be more effective if he prayerfully and constantly seeks to employ the grand strategy of a consecrating purpose which does not overmuch hurry or worry, but which loses no time—either in loitering by the way or in bootless wanderings off along bypaths or unimportant errands—because of inattention to the direction of God's Word, or miscalculation of the methods and means needed for a proper use of the opportunities of life. Make haste, but leave God to order all thy ways; use the very best discretion possible to a mortal man in planning your work and warfare day by day, but trust in Him whatever betide!
