I am glad to be able to write a testimony of my healing...
I am glad to be able to write a testimony of my healing through Christian Science. I came from Norway in the spring of 1892 with good health and bright prospects. My good health continued until 1901, when I was stricken with fever; and as I was unable to recover my strength after that, I was soon a physical wreck. About a year after having the fever, I began drinking and kept it up for two years. This was the final stroke, and my health was completely broken down. I went to a physician, but he could not tell what was the matter with me; I took medicine all summer and got somewhat better, but soon found myself worse again and was not able to work for five months. At this time I was living in Wisconsin, and was treated by two of the best physicians in the middle West, who finally said they had done all for me that medical skill could do,—one of them saying, "There is not a doctor in the United States that can cure you." I left Wisconsin and came to Idaho, thinking a change of climate might help me, and consulted another physician, who pronounced my case kidney disease. I was treated by him for some time, but got no relief. I told him what the other doctors had said, and he responded, "They told you the truth." He talked to me as though he expected me to die at any time. I then quit medicine, and after trying osteopathy for nine months I was satisfied that it could not help me. I was greatly discouraged, and without hope, as I had spent all my money and was not able to work. Poverty and death seemed to stare me in the face; my suffering, physical and mental, seemed more than I could bear.
At this time I was urged to try Christian Science, and I sent for a practitioner, though with little faith of ever getting any help. The practitioner told me that God would heal me if I would but trust Him, and as it was my only hope, I began taking treatment in March, 1907. I improved from the first; in less than a week I went on a farm and began to work, and have worked at hard labor ever since. I can truthfully say that I am now a well man, and I am thankful to God for the physical and spiritual healing, and to Mrs. Eddy, who discovered this truth that lifts humanity out of sin and suffering.
Otto Pederson, Moscow, Idaho.
