A little more than two years ago I first learned the truth about Christian Science,—that it did heal; and I knew that if it healed others it could heal me, for surely God is no respecter of persons. I was very miserable indeed, and truly life did not seem worth the living, but a book that came into our home as a Christmas gift so cheered me that I was inspired with the hope of recovery to health and happiness. I had been a sufferer for some time with a trouble which our family physician could not name and failed to relieve. My fear was very great, as it seemed to me at times that I could never breathe again, and with each attack I seemed to grow weaker. I was never allowed to sleep alone, nor to be alone if it could possibly be avoided. Just before I became interested in Christian Science I had as many as eight of these attacks in twenty-four hours. Aside from this particular trouble there were many others,—a cough of a year's standing, a weak heart, and for three years I had suffered intensely from bowel trouble; but, thanks to the Giver of all good, I found relief almost immediately after I began the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." A large quantity of medicine was thrown away, and I gave myself over to the constant study of the Christian Science textbook. Each day I could see a marked improvement. I also had a practitioner give me two treatments for the bowel trouble, and I was relieved in a very short time. I weighed but ninety-six pounds when I began to read the text-book, but within two months I had gained twenty pounds.
Before our little son was two years of age he was taken with a catarrhal condition of the bowels. We called our regular physician, but as the child did not seem to improve we made a change. The doctor then called continued in attendance for a month, but our baby was growing worse instead of better. Fearing that we would lose him, and not knowing what else to do, we again called our old physician. After a three-weeks struggle we were told that while it would be possible to relieve our little one, the diseasw was one which could not be cured. In consequence our child was delicate, and required a great amount of care and nursing, with frequent visits from our family physician, until at last we learned to know that the true understanding of God does make us "every whit whole." Every symptom of the catarrhal condition disappeared after two weeks' treatment by a Christian Science practitioner, together with a trying attack of throat trouble and an eruptive disease. My heart goes out in deepest gratitude to God, and to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy who has shown us the way to this fountain of life, where all who are athirst may drink and be satisfied.
Mrs. Mabel Carr Warren, Wausau, Wis.
