Crawfordville (Ind.) Journal

Christian Science maintains the fact intimated in Dr. Riddell's lecture, that all real healing is divine; that if "fear, anger, jealousy, greed, and worry disturb the normal functioning," that if these and other undesirable qualities of erring human mind are the direct or indirect cause of all sickness, it is but reasonable to conclude that the only effectual healing of the disease or sickness must result, indeed can alone result, from the removal of such mental cause. Now the Scriptures teach that "the mind of the flesh" is the prolific source of the very mental attitudes which the doctor declares to be the basis of disease and discord; while on the other hand the Mind "which was also in Christ Jesus" and for the possession of which all his followers are urged to strive earnestly, is always conducive to opposite and more wholesome mental states. Hence this latter Mind, or the "divine Mind" as it is designated by Mrs. Eddy, alone can heal. This, moreover, is the very basis of teaching and healing in Christian Science, and the results of the system in the healing of all manner of diseases attest its verity and efficacy, effectually refuting the insinuation that healing in Christian Science is not of divine origin. The human mind (so called) and human personality play no part in the process.
