I am glad to acknowledge the great benefits I have received from Christian Science and trust I may express, in a measure at least, its great healing and saving power. I have received a great deal of help in the healing of minor physical ailments, but that which seems even greater to me is my business success. I had been a teacher in the public schools, but desired to change my vocation for a business life. I took a course in shorthand during a summer vacation, devoting an almost equal amount of time to the study of Christian Science and also giving it the preference. I worked with the hope that a position would be offered me as soon as I was ready for it.
As I was among strangers, and had no one to look to for influence in aiding me to secure a position, I felt that I was wholly dependent upon divine Mind; and when, before the expiration of three months,—even before I had completed my course,—I had the offer of a position, which I accepted, I felt that Mind had supplied it and that Mind would sustain me and enable me to do the work properly. This was work for six weeks only, while the regular stenographer was away on a vacation. I completed the work, and there was an interval of only two days before I was again offered a position, which proved permanent and where the true test came, as I went on trial. A Christian Science practitioner aided me greatly to understand that by reliance upon divine intelligence I would be fitted to hold this apparently difficult position. I feel that this is purely a demonstration of the blessings in store for all those who look to divine Truth for their supply.
The thing I prize most highly is the fact that I am daily enabled to rise in thought, and behold if but faintly that "now are we the sons of God;" that we are privileged to work out our own salvation and out of all mortality. I wish to express my gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for helping humanity to perceive this beautiful truth which is the "bread of life."—Ora M. Smith, Lake Charles, La.
