From childhood I was afflicted with catarrhal trouble, and when my stomach became affected I was examined and prescribed for by a doctor. I was taking medicine all the time, but received no particular benefit. When I was about thirteen years of age my throat began to trouble me. I caught cold very easily in spite of the great precautions taken to prevent it. After a time the doctor then treating me said that a change of climate would do me more good than anything else, and after a very bad winter I moved to Nebraska. For one year I had no trouble, and was hopeful that I would get well again, but during the second year I was taken with asthmatic trouble and the doctor there told me that he could only relieve me temporarily, as I had worn out the climate and another move was necessary. I was very despondent at times.
Just then I heard of Christian Science, and it was told me that Christian Scientists never got tired. I began to investigate, not for the healing of the diseases mentioned, but for the tired feeling. I was sure the other ailments were incurable, as five physicians had failed to help me. I was instantly healed in Christian Science of the tired feeling; and while I did not realize it at the time, I was also healed of a bronchial affection, and of female trouble which I had contracted at the birth of my first child, twenty-five years before. Severe headaches also vanished and have never returned. This healing occurred in August, 1892, and without any treatment but by reading Christian Science literature. I have never had a return of any of these ailments. The asthmatic trouble was slower to yield, as the belief in heredity was very strong; but thanks to God, and to Mrs. Eddy, I am free. I am well and happy in doing good to others,—in pointing the way to Life, Truth, and Love, as we are taught to do in our text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."
