Prompted by gratitude and the hope that others may be benefited by these words, as I have been by other testimonies in the Sentinel, I wish to tell a little of the great joy and help that have come into my life through Christian Science. Five and a half years were spent in suffering from nervousness and abdominal trouble, during which time I dragged out a miserable existence. Irritable and depressed, I could enjoy nothing and was scarcely able to attend to my household duties or care for my two small children. Several physicians, all of whom were kind and thoughtful, attended me and tried in every way to relieve my condition. I even submitted to an operation which promised to make me a new woman, but the promise was not fulfilled, and a new toruble was added to the old ones. After months of treatment in materia medica I was told that nothing but another operation would help me. Rather than undergo a second season of torture I determined to try Christian Science, of which I knew nothing except a little that two firends had told me. I was skeptical, but gave it a trial, and with five present treatments and about three weeks' absent treatment I was healed of these distressing ailments, and became so interested in the truth which I knew had healed me, that much of my time, both by day and by night, was spent in reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." Although there were times when it seemed that the old trouble had returned, still I never doubted, so sure was I that it was the healing power of Truth that had helped me. My gratitude for this healing is very great.

It is now three and a half years since I was healed, and for our family of four no drugs have been used and no druge called in that time. Previously we employed a physician constantly and were never without all sorts of drugs. We are especially thankful for the help Science has been to us in caring for our two little boys. It is beautiful to see how naturally and easily they respond to its teachings. For the spiritual light that has come through the writings of Mrs. Eddy, for the wonderful truths made plain, and the joy of waking each day with a new and beautiful sense of life, we are filled with gratitude and love to God. We love and revere Mrs. Eddy for her unremitting toil and watchfulness, and for the pure life which made possible the writing of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."
