WITHOUT VARIABLENESS

The Lord shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory.

ISAIAH.

O TRUST in Spirit, when the twilight darkens,
And scenes of daytime vanish like a dream;
Love, the unchanging, to your least thought hearkens.—
Trust on, and press toward Life's ne'er shadowed stream.

O trust in Spirit, when the evenings lengthen,
When fears of darkness seem or real or true;
Mind's clear, pure light your vision still shall strengthen;
Rest, then, in peace—'tis Love encircles you!

O trust in Spirit! error ne'er can blind you,
For all your life is hid with Christ in God;
You are beyond the mists—nor fear nor doubt can find you,
The sun's brave light fares forth above the cloud!
