Christian Science was first presented to me nine years ago. It found me a confirmed invalid, said to be suffering from kidney disease. Two years previous to this time I was taken ill while at boarding-school, and was sent to a hospital, where I was placed under the care of a specialist. I remained in the hospital for six months, at the end of which time it was decided to remove me to my home, which was then near West Chester, Pa., as with the exception of one symptom my condition did not seem to improve.

In this state Christian Science was presented to me by a relative who said she had been greatly helped,—in fact, raised from a death-bed. At this time I was beginning to realize that my case was hopeless. I had become so accustomed to watching my symptoms closely that I could readily see that I was gradually getting worse, and as a last resort I consented to try Christian Science, feeling that it could do me no harm at least. In September, 1896, I gave up medicine and started to take Christian Science treatment. My condition began to change immediately, and from that day I was able to eat what I pleased and take what exercise I liked, two privileges that had been particularly forbidden me under medical treatment. I felt like a free man, and was free from the terrible bondage that I had been under. My chains, as it were, fell off me and disappeared. Just one week after commencing treatment, I secured a bicycle and rode for an hour without feeling any ill effects therefrom.

I have put my strength and health to the strongest tests, doing the hardest kind of work, particularly in the first two years following my healing, and am thankful to say that in all these nine years I have never for a single day been unable to perform my daily duties. This great blessing I owe to God, to whom I feel a gratitude I cannot express in words, and to Mrs. Eddy, who has devoted her life to the re-discovery of this new-old truth, and has presented it to this age through her book, "Science and Health with key to the Scriptures." I would earnestly advise any one who is a sufferer in either mind or body to investigate this great truth that is for all those who seek it.
