The teaching that evil can be performed through erroneous mental influence is not new to this age, but it should be understood that the mission of Christian Science is to counteract and destroy such evil mental influence. Christian Science lifts men away from the desire to control or to be controlled by human will, and awakens the desire and effort of every earnest Christian to be possessed of that Mind only which "was also in Christ Jesus." Christian Scientists are united with all other Christians in the confident belief in and fulfilment of the Scriptural promise, "Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; there shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling."
