The original plans of the famous old Constitution, for the restoration of which Congress at the recent session appropriated $100,000, have been found at Salem in the East India Marine Museum. The section of the naval appropriation bill authorizing the work directed that the ship should be fitted up as nearly as possible in accordance with its original construction. The Bureau of Construction and Repair has been having some difficulty in carrying out this provision, owing to the fact that the original plans of the ship could not be found.
In 1835 the Six Nations tribe of Indians of New York State, by the Buffalo Creek treaty, were to migrate from New York to Kansas, where they were to receive new lands. Some of them went. Those who remained at home asked for cash instead of the land. The Government refused to make the exchange and the Indians brought suit. Finally they have been given a verdict. The amount approximates $2,000,000. This is to be divided among the 9,627 Indians.

There have been many visitors to the headquarters of the expedition at Spitzbergen, including the Prince of Monaco on his yacht Princess Alice and the passengers of two tourists' steamers.
