I feel that it is time for me to give my testimony of what Christian Science has done for me and my family. It is now almost two years since I first became acquainted with it. Some friends gave us Der Herold and other Christian Science literature to read, and then Science and Health. This I could at first understand but little, because I could read very little English, but I became interested and asked our little daughter, eleven years old, to read to us, and thus we gradually learned to understand it. It is a wonderful book. It has brought us many blessings,—health, happiness, work, and peace. Words fail me to express what it really has done for us. Many diseases have been conquered with my friends' help. We are a large family and receive blessings daily. It is impossible for me to relate it all, but I would like to speak of a recent experience.
Last summer I hurt my left eye with a fine gauze wire. I did not pay much attention to it, and felt only a slight pain until evening, when I suffered terribly. The eye was inflamed and I could not endure the light. As I was but a beginner in Christian Science, I sent for a friend the following day. He came and gave me treatment, and in a few days the eye was improved. Two weeks later I thought that I was well enough to go out to work, which was in a physician's house. He noticed my eye, and I permitted him to examine it. He pronounced it a bad case and said that I must go to an oculist immediately. A sense of fear made me waver, and I let him persuade me. He took me to an oculist, who treated me for several days, but the eye did not improve any, rather grew worse. He said that I must go to the hospital, but I refused and returned to Christian Science and remained there. It seemed a hard struggle, and there were times when I thought that I must submit, but gradually error yielded to Truth. My dear friends had to stay patiently with me for many days and nights. It was several weeks before I was healed, but the healing was complete. I can now see, and am a happy woman that I have been led from error to Truth. We are thankful to God, and to dear Mrs. Eddy, who has brought this wonderful light to us and to all the world. We hope to come more and more into this light, and we shall strive to lead lives which please God.—MRS. Rosa Tritten, Rome, N. Y.
