I think it would have been impossible to find a more...
I think it would have been impossible to find a more skeptical person, regarding this Science, than I was before I had seen any of its wonderful work. I used to deride it most vehemently, so much so that now I am heartily ashamed of my past attitude when I think of the many blessings it has brought to me. However, the time soon came for the truth to be manifested. I was suffering from an ailment that was puzzling the best physicians of this country, some of whom enjoyed an international reputation. Their efforts were altogether unsuccessful, and I had almost become resigned to what I thought was my fate; i.e., to suffer the rest of my life, when a friend asked me to try Christian Science. I said, "It can't do me any good, because I have no faith in it," whereupon she replied, "Give it a trial, and when you have been healed, then you will receive your faith."
I did give Science a trial, simply because there were no material remedies left, and I was completely healed in two treatments, after doctoring for nearly five years. This was a year and a half ago, and I have never had a vestige of the old complaint since, Moreover, I have never felt so well in all my life; in fact, I have not had one day's illness in all that time. As in every case, the physical healing was the least of blessings that came to me. It purged my mind of worry and discontent, while it left instead peace and harmony. "Science and Health with Key to the "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" gave me a religion for which most of us are reaching —a practical religion. Christian Science gives to us a God of Love, one who is with us now and always, an everpresent help in time of trouble. Is it then to be wondered at that Christian Scientists are continually happy? It is because they look to Principle, in the solving of all life's problems.
I wish to give thanks to God for all that He has done for me and mine, and to express my deepest gratitude to our beloved Leader, who through her untiring efforts and selfsacrifice has given to the world the greatest gift of the centuries, the wonderful book through which we may know God aright, and which, if we follow its teachings, will fill our lives with peace and prosperity.
