Although for several years I have been trying to incorporate...

Although for several years I have been trying to incorporate Christian Science in my daily life, and have had many proofs of its helpfulness and practicality, I have recently passed through an experience which has awakened me to a greater sense of gratitude for its healing power. I had occasion to place a package in a safe located in a vault. A single jet of gas was the means of lighting the vault, and, at this time, the gas had escaped and filled the space above the door. When the gas was ignited, and just as I succeeded in unlocking the safe door, there was an explosion, knocking me down. At the moment of the explosion I was so impressed with the thought of my inability to contend with such a condition that instantly the counter-thought of the indestructible nature of spiritual man filled my consciousness. I crawled through the door before trying to rise, as the vault above me seemed to be filled with flame. When I arose, I returned to my office, which was a few steps down the corridor, and at once asked for Christian Science treatment. The pain was quite severe, but after about an hour and a half it ceased. My face, neck, and right hand had been severely burned, so badly indeed that for twenty hours the water exuded continuously like an excessive but not a single blister formed on my face or neck. My hand appeared like a half-cooked piece of meat, and after the second day a large spot turned a decidedly green color. This discoloration continued for a couple of days, but the healing was perfect and there is not a trace of the burn to-day, either on my face or hand. Six days after the explosion occurred, opened my office and resumed my regular occupation. During the days of my healing, although so disfigured that I could not see any one, I enjoyed my meals and rested well at night.

This incident has turned my thought with renewed gratitude toward our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and my knowledge of the suffering I have been saved from, of the protection in right thinking, and of my indebtedness to God for corrected life, makes the giving of this testimony a pleasure.
