MRS. EDDY'S DISCOVERIES

Considered Impartially by a Man Who is not a Christian Scientist.

To the Editor of the Sun.

Sir:—Mr. Kiretchjian asks, "What is it that Mrs. Eddy of Concord, N. H., discovered?" He labels this question "No. 1," thereby implying that he is prepared to ask other questions equally dumbfounding.

Now I am not a member of the Christian Science church, nor have I ever taken treatment of a practitioner, but I have studied Christian Science, being led thereto by what I have observed of its effects among many friends near and dear to me, in the matter of their health, their proclivities, their very temperament and disposition. Science and Health, read with no purpose to criticise its literature (which is blunt and sometimes baroque), but with an honest desire to ascertain the meaning of the writer, has answered for me more fundamental questions than any other book I ever read, of philosophy, science, or religion.
