It is almost twenty years since I first heard of Christian Science. It appealed to me at once; I felt that the human mind ought to be treated instead of the body. Some months later we had occasion to test it. One of our children, four years old, was very ill, and was given up by the doctor, who said it was already a dying child. He was then dismissed, and a Christian Science practitioner sent for. The child began to improve, slowly but steadily, and after a week or two he was entirely healed. The alarming throat trouble never returned, although he had suffered from it quite often before. I became so interested that I took up the study of Christian Science, and in a family of six we have not used medicine since. The truth has never failed, and it has proved the fear of contagion untrue. Every day brings its blessings. One morning I slipped in running downstairs, and injured my ankle so that it pained me severely. I took Science and Health and sat down to read it, but became unconscious. I soon recovered, however, and declared the truth. I went on with my work again, not thinking any more about it, till all at once I felt the ankle bone go back into place. On another occasion one of our boys came home from work feeling very ill. I declared the truth to him audibly, and finally managed to get him to bed. I then read to him from the Bible and Science and Health and worked for him until we both went to sleep. Next morning he was entirely healed. Other severe ailments have also been overcome.

Above all I feel thankful to God for the spiritual help gained. I had always tried to live a Christian life, but felt sorry that I did not live in Jesus' time. Now I know, as dear Mrs. Eddy teaches, that the Christ has never left us. I thank God every day for Christian Science.

One of our children was completely healed of a dreaded disease in one treatment. After the practitioner was gone, the child exclaimed. "If praying helps so quick, why do not all people pray when they are sick?" All parents ought to understand Christian Science; then the burden of watching over little children would be lifted from them; for they would leave the little ones in God's care. It is a great joy to watch the children apply the truth; they teach us some grand lessons.
