"Ye shall know the truth."

Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John, viii, 32.

THIS saying of Jesus is much quoted by Christian Scientists. They like it because it is a clear, concise, positive, comprehensive, and demonstrable declaration of the fundamental teaching of Christian Science. This saying is one of the basic premises upon which Mrs. Eddy has established the irrefutable logic of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." The flawless correlation of this saying is proved not only by Jesus' own marvelous works, but by the widespread healing of all manner of diseases which has attended the faithful study of the Christian Science textbook. It is a question, however, if all the students of this great subject who quote the saying, get from it the practical aid in their daily experience that they should. At any rate, the writer knows that a narrow sense of its meaning long deprived him of much spiritual gain, and inquiry among his friends has caused him to suspect that his blunder of interpretation and consequent lack of correct understanding are somewhat widespread.
