About nine years ago I began to study Christian Science. I was treated by a practitioner, and healed of heart trouble, kidney disease, also constipation in the worst form. When I first went to see the practitioner I was unable to walk two blocks at a time, but when I left for home I forgot my ailments, and walked about town. When I reached home I found I was healed of all my troubles. I went on for about five years, helping myself and others. Finally I got hold of some literature which claimed to be Christian Science, and it led me away from the truth. I soon found myself drifting back into the same condition in which I had been, groping around in darkness, knowing not which way to turn. I tried every way I knew to lift myself out of darkness, but could not. I tried to read Science and Health, a little at a time. I could not give up; I wanted to get back to the light again. The words of our Leader's hymn came to me, "Shepherd, show me how to go." They seemed to comfort me. I then called on the same practitioner, and she was faithful in helping me out of darkness into the glorious light of liberty. The Sentinel is a welcome visitor at our house. I now have "Miscellaneous Writings," and Mrs. Eddy's other works. I am filled with gratitude to God, also to Mrs. Eddy for giving us Science and Health to show us the way to Him. I live in the mountains, and have no church to go to, and if it were not for our text-book and the Quarterly I could not be contended here.
