It would cover many pages were I to try to enumerate all the proofs of the power of Truth that I have had since I joined the Christian Science Society of Georgetown, now a church with steadily increasing membership. I was originally attracted to Christian Science by the spirit of love and harmony that permeated the then small congregation. I soon had occasion, at the birth of my first baby, to realize the healing power of Truth. I could not relate all the good that has come to me during the three years that I have been in this Science. I wish, however, to tell of two demonstrations in the last three months which prove God's care for all His children. When my second baby was born, I had only a nurse and a Christian Science practitioner who was a dear friend of mine. The conditions were so adverse that a happy result seemed almost impossible. A physician who was told the circumstances later, declared that he would have thought an operation necessary, which would have endangered the lives of both mother and child. With the assistance of the Christian Scientist the unnatural conditions were overcome, and by what seemed a miracle to mortal mind, I was delivered, comparatively without pain.
This demonstration had a result that I have reason to be no less thankful for. My husband, who had been a more or less hard drinker ever since he studied at German universities sixteen to twenty years ago, and who on this account had dropped Christian Science, which he once for a short time had taken up, became so convinced of its truth, that he asked for treatment for his diseased appetite. With three treatments he was perfectly cured, and not only has he not taken any intoxicants since, but he has not even experienced the slightest desire for them. May others follow this truth, and they will find, as I did, that the Lord will take away from them all sickness.
