The Christian Science teachings from first to last abound...

Quincy (Ill.) Journal

The Christian Science teachings from first to last abound in exhortations to be pure, to be honest,—not alone to be honest in business and with our fellow-men, but to be honest with ourselves. It teaches that honesty is indispensable in working out our salvation from the bondage of sin and discord. Christian Science teaches that Deity must be enthroned in the heart of man, that God must be acknowledged as supreme. It teaches that all evil intent, all evil desire, envy, malice, hate, must be avoided if we would bring about the reign of righteousness, the brotherhood of man. The study and application of Christian Science makes more acute the ability to judge between right and wrong, which is man's God-given heritage. We therefore assert that if more lives were shaped in accord with the high spiritual teachings of Christian Science, there would be less perjury, less dishonesty, and less discord of every nature.

In reply to the charge that Christian Scientists use formulas in their treatment, we will only refer to the Manual of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston. Article 26, Section 5, of this Manual, prohibits the use of formulas. This Manual is intended to govern the conduct of all Christian Scientists.
