Christian Science came to my notice through the instantaneous healing of my son. His leg had been injured some years before in the football field; the doctors had done all they could for him, and finally ordered him into the Manchester Infirmary. where he remained three weeks. When he came out he thought he was better, but after a short time his leg was as bad as before. Again they took him into the hospital, and he was dismissed, no better. Several operations had been performed, and he had suffered agonies. He was told that he was incurable and must have his leg amputated. He was just beginning life, so it was a terrible blow to him, and we were all about as miserable over it as we could be. The doctor of our district heard of his sad condition and came to see him. This doctor told him how his own child had been cured by a lady in Manchester and advised him to try the same treatment. My son said to me after the doctor left, "Mother, I am going to Manchester in the morning to see a lady doctor and have Christian Science treatment." I replied, "Don't go, it is the devil's work;" but he answered, "I am going." My son went next morning and returned—healed—after one treatment!

I was in bed when he came home that night, and was much surprised to hear him running up-stairs. He flew into my bedroom and said, "Mother, I have brought you a present," and when I put out my hand to receive it, he gave me the bandage which he had had to wear so many years. He danced up and down the room, as if trying to realize his freedom. This was four years ago. He has never had a return of the trouble and has been able to play football and cricket and attend to his work. I had been an active church worker for many years, but when I studied Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, I found it expressed a higher and clearer understanding of Truth. I knew what had healed my son. and I resolved at once to go forward and give this glorious truth to others. My heart goes out in gratitude to God, and it is impossible to express the gratitude and love we feel to our dear Leader, who has brought this healing truth to all the world.
