Jesus said, "They shall take up serpents."
Jesus said, "They shall take up serpents." Christian Science teaches how to handle discord intelligently, scientifically, and with certainty, but this handling of evil is not a self-satisfied declaration that there is no pain, no sorrow, no sin, no want. It is much more than that. Christian Science is practical enough in its dealings to satisfy the most exacting demands of the followers of Bacon, because it shows results. It is indeed "a philosophy of works."
It is common sense to apply a remedy for physical, moral, and financial disease. It is uncommon sense to know how, even in a degree, to prevent these evils. Christian Science not only teaches the very best remedy, but it shows how it is possible, in a measure, to avoid that which we know to be discordant and unwelcome.
