First Wednesday Evening Meeting

WE are indebted to the Concord Evening Monitor and the Concord Daily Patriot for the following account of the very interesting and helpful meeting held in the new church edifice, Wednesday, July 20.

Nearly eight hundred people attended the first mid-week testimonial meeting held in the new church edifice, the gift of the Rev. Mary Baker G. Eddy to First Church of Christ. Scientist, of this city. This was a memorable occasion to the Christian Scientists present, and it was of more than passing interest to the goodly number of Concord people who attended a Christian Science service for the first time.

The services throughout were impressive. The meeting opened with an organ prelude, followed by the singing of one of Mrs. Eddy's hymns, "Shepherd, show me how to go." The Scripture reading was from 4th chapter of 1st John with correlative passages from the Christian Science text-book, Science and Health, beginning with second paragraph on page 366. This was followed by a few moments of silent prayer and the audible repetition of the Lord's prayer.
