I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science...
I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for my family. About two months ago my little boy had what seemed to be a very bad attack of stomach and bowel trouble. This was on Saturday night, and on Sunday morning I sent for a friend, who was a practitioner.
I did all I could, which seemed to be very little, as I was young in Science, until my friend came and commenced work for him. He did not seem to respond very quickly, if anything he seemed worse. He was very feverish and delirious, and complained of severe pain in the head. She worked for him all day, until about six o'clock, when he seemed to be quiet and not suffering. I told her she had better go home, and if anything happened I would let her know. Soon after, however, he went into convulsions,—his face, hands, and feet were all drawn out of shape and he was cold and rigid. My husband and I turned away, realizing that we were not helping her or him by our fear. The practitioner then declared the truth aloud very forcibly. The third time she called him by name he raised his head, opened his eyes, and said. "What is it, aunty?" The error was met and destroyed right then. She helped him up and he soon went to bed, and rested very well through the night, although she stayed with him all night. The next day he came down stairs, on Tuesday he was out in the yard, and Wednesday he went to school and to church in the evening. He has been entirely well ever since.
We feel that we owe his life to Christian Science, and we cannot express the love and gratitude we feel toward Mrs. Eddy and the dear sister who worked so faithfully for our little boy. I trust this will help some one who is still in the dark.—Mrs. F. C. West, Concord, N. H.
