I first heard of Christian Science through the healing of a dear friend of spinal and hip disease. The proof was very great, but I was not willing to accept it at once, although greatly in need, both mentally and physically.
After being with this friend, and another who was earnestly seeking, for several months one summer, I returned home with the thought, "Well, they have the same dear old Bible that we have in the orthodox church, why can't I find this healing which is doing so much for them without accepting the other book,—Science and Health?
The result was that after trying in my way, without the pure confidence and trust that alone satisfieth, I was confined to my room for three months.
